Rahul was known as the class playboy. For him, impressing girls was never a challenge. A smile here, a compliment there — and things usually went his way. So when he first noticed Shrawani, he assumed it would be the same story again. She was beautiful, confident, and different. He thought, “She’ll fall for me too.”
But this time… he was wrong.
The first time he spoke to her, he kept it casual.
Rahul :- “What’s your name?”
Shrawani :- “Shrawani.”
Rahul :- “Which college were you in before this?”
Shrawani :- “City Arts College.”
Rahul :- “Why did you choose this subject?”
Shrawani :- “Because I like understanding how people think.”
She answered every question with a calm smile. Polite. Clear. Short.
Still, something bothered Rahul. He felt she wasn’t giving him the kind of attention he was used to. No extra curiosity. No nervous giggles. No effort to continue the conversation. Just simple answers — nothing more.
It felt strange.
After that day, whenever Rahul saw her — in the canteen, near the staircase, outside the classroom after lectures — he tried again. He would start conversations about assignments, campus events, even random things like music or movies. But every time, the result was the same.
Shrawani never crossed her limits.
She never became too personal.
And she never allowed him to become personal either.
There was a quiet discipline in her behavior. She wasn’t rude. She wasn’t arrogant. She was just… firm.
Rahul wasn’t used to that.
Meanwhile, Riya noticed everything. The way Rahul’s eyes searched for Shrawani. The way he tried to sit closer in class. The way he suddenly cared about philosophy lectures.
It irritated her.
One day, she said casually,
Riya :- “Why are you wasting time on her? She’s boring. Too serious. Leave her.”
Rahul ignored it.
He didn’t know why — but he wasn’t ready to give up.
One afternoon, he gathered courage again.
Rahul :- “Are you on Instagram?”
Shrawani :- “No. I don’t use social media.”
He forced a light laugh.
Rahul :- “Okay… then at least give me your number?”
Shrawani looked straight at him. Not angry. Not shy. Just steady.
Shrawani :- “I don’t share my number with boys.”
That was it.
No drama. No explanation.
For the first time in his life, Rahul felt rejected — not insulted, just… refused.
And strangely, it didn’t hurt his ego the way it should have. Instead, it made him think.
She’s not like the others.
He slowly began to understand her boundaries. She wasn’t playing hard to get. She genuinely valued her space. Her focus. Her dignity.
Something shifted inside him.
Instead of trying new tricks to impress her, he stepped back. He stopped unnecessary flirting. He stopped showing off. When he talked to her after that, his tone was different — calmer, more respectful.
He began listening more than speaking.
He started appreciating her discipline instead of trying to break it.
For the first time, Rahul wasn’t trying to win a girl.
He was trying to become someone worthy of her respect.
And maybe… that was the beginning of his real change.
